Thursday Tunes

North Star performed by Mike Oldfield. This is Oldfield's take on a Philip Glass composition. Like most of Glass' stuff, it's a bit monochromatic. It's also a slow build from a simple pattern, which fits perfectly with Oldfield's style. If you're unfamiliar with either artist, just stick with it. Don't get bored and turn it off after two minutes. It's a subtle thing, but quite beautiful.

Speaking of style, this video was recorded in 1981. Check out those shirts.

Philip Glass original is here if you want to compare.

Nice! Even has Maggie Reilly doing vocals...that IS an old one. :) Cool find.

I just realized its been several years now I think since I last listened to any of my Mike Oldfield stuff. I don't actually have any of my Oldfield in digital format yet its either CD, cassette tape or...*pause*...vinyal album.

Looks like I'm going to have to visit iTunes now and fix that now. Thanks for finding yet another excuse to separate me from my money. :)
