Greed
MANSFIELD, LA (KSLA) - Shelves in Walmart stores in Springhill and Mansfield, LA were reportedly cleared Saturday night, when the stores allowed purchases on EBT cards even though they were not showing limits.
There is a line in the Movie Wallstreet where Michael Douglas' character, Gordon Gecko, gives a speech about how greed is good. In a sense, I believe it is. It makes us strive to do more, take risks, invest and open businesses. Greed in and of itself is not a bad thing. Greed, with a sense of entitlement? That is what causes things like this:Lynd explained the cards weren't showing limits and they called corporate Walmart, whose spokesman said to let the people use the cards anyway. From 7 to 9 p.m., people were loading up their carts, but when the cards began showing limits again around 9, one woman was detained because she rang up a bill of $700.00 and only had .49 on her card. She was held by police until corporate Walmart said they wouldn't press charges if she left the food.
Lynd says at 9 p.m., when the cards came back online and it was announced over the loud speaker, people just left their carts full of food in the aisles and left.
Trust me when I say, people with EBT cards (Ie: food stamps) know exactly how much they have on them and when they get the money. What happened is a bunch of people who thought " I'm gonna get mine while the gettin is good" ran up there. We have become a society where we allow no shame, and people are allowed to justify their bad behavior as an illness or the fault of society or their station. The purpose in life is to strive to better yourself, your station in life, and to make things better for your children. If you are not growing, you are decaying. We have a large segment of population that is rewarded for poor choices and not contributing anything except carbon dioxide. Soon Atlas will tire of this burden. Lo' to those who are around when he does.

Historically, something comes around every few decades to clean out messes like this one. It's usually a civil war or a plague.
People seem to think I'm joking when I say that global thermonuclear war is not necessarily a bad thing.
I believe this to be appropriate (attributed to a few public figures, like Peterson, Tytler or Toqueville): that democracy will die when the public figures out how to vote themselves largess from the Treasury.
We are deep in the dependency stage. Millions of otherwise capable citizens on Welfare and Food Stamps, Public dependence on Government Healthcare (even if forced), and inability or unlawfulness of self-protection.
Dictatorship probably won't come under this Liberal President, but more likely the next one.
