Sleeping Bums

An Iowa library is having problems with people using the book rooms as bed rooms.

"People sleeping in the library disturb other people. It makes them uncomfortable, particularly if they are laying down on a couch," Craig said.

Staff say the problem is with disruptive behavior and not with a particular group of people.

"If there's a 20-year-old college student with their head down on their textbook they need to be treated the same way as someone who is dressed in a way that someone may assume they're homeless," Craig said.

Two points here:

1) This is an example of the worst excess of the Left's hallowed religion of Equality. Equating a studying (and probably exhausted) college student who accidentally dozes off with a useless street bum is beyond ridiculous. Which brings me to...

2) It's not "someone who is dressed in a way that someone may assume they're homeless." It's a fucking bum. Stop beating around the political correctness bush and call them what they are. A bum is someone who refuses to exhibit even minimal conformance with societal norms by way of caring for themselves. The college student is striving to become a useful member of society; the bum has already proven that the most use he could ever be to society is as the raw ingredient of soylent green.

This country provides a myriad of ways for people to help themselves up. The only possible reason anyone in the modern United States is living on the street and begging hard-working people for money is because they choose to do so.

When it comes to the street corner beggars, I have to resign myself to directing menacing glares at them until they slink away. I do so only because running them over with my car is technically illegal. It would also cause superficial damage to my vehicle, which would be moderately inconvenient for me. Accidents, however, do happen...
