Strangeness in China

The Chinese are building some really weird shit out in the middle of the desert: odd linear constructs of monstrous proportions, what looks like bomb testing facilities... What are those little yellow devils up to, I wonder?

There are links to the locations on Google Maps at the article. When you've finished examining those locations, take the opportunity to wander around and find your own weird shit, like this gigantic blue thing in the middle of nowhere. It's five miles by ten miles and clearly visible from low orbit. Nothing sinister, as it's obviously some sort of industrial facility. It's just oddly located and really, really damned big. It is so big, in fact, it's difficult to get your head around the scale of it.

Try this: set up the view of that facility in a tab where you can see the whole thing, then set up a separate Google Maps tab centered on your home town. Get the zoom levels the same in each tab. Now switch back and forth between them. BIG.
