A Chesty Puller quote?
'The more troops they send, the more targets we have'
...oops my mistake that would be a quote from the Taliban. Silly ragheads will they ever learn? Pissing off a bunch of Marines never ends well for those who pissed them off.
Here is the quote he appears to be paraphrasing: "We’re surrounded. That simplifies our problem of getting to these people and killing them" General Lewis B "Chesty" Puller

The difference in philosophy that makes the United States Marine Corps the most feared infantry force on the planet can be observed in the reaction to an ambush.
In most every military force in the world, troops are taught that if caught in an ambush, you immediately seek cover or concealment, return fire to suppress the enemy, and attempt to flank the ambushers with a 50% or larger element.
The Marine Corps teaches that in the event you are ambushed, you immediately turn towards the incoming fire and assault.
History shows that the Marines' technique succeeds in breaking out of an ambush far more often than the cautious, tactical reaction. Sometimes tactics mean far less than simple, obstinate meanness.
"Fortes Fortuna Juvat" -- Fortune Favors the Brave. That's the official motto on the seal of the 3rd Marine Regiment, but the entire Corps follows it. It was not by accident that the United States Marines became the most effective and feared infantry since the Roman Legions.
