Time out for kids = Jail time for parents

How many times have you been in a restaurant, shopping mall, or just out in public, when some unruly child becomes the center of attention for miles around? And how many times did you say (as I often do, out loud) someone needs to discipline that child?

Well being raised the old school way (yea like the 60’s and 70’s were old school) as a child you would have never even thought of making a scene, let alone talk without being spoken to first, knowing that if you stepped out of line for just one second you would have been yanked back to reality with a swift swat on the ass! And yes, I believe most of the time my parents had it right!

Just a few months ago I was at a Safeway with my three sons, while in a checkout line a lady asked me if this was a rare day for me. I asked what she meant by that? She stated that my boys were being quite and behaving very nicely. Of course the Jarhead in me kick in, stating NO, my children know that this is the way they should act, and they are also aware that if they step out of line the full force of a wooden paddle was in their near future. At that point the lady gazed upon me as if I was Charles Manson. I do not know why I was shocked but it just pissed me off to no end.

Ok,I am now off the soapbox.

Anyway on April 15th if California gets its way I would be in prison for discipline my children. Does anyone have a get out of jail card I can use?

Another reason why California is so often referred to as the land of fruits and nuts.
