Fairy Tales

Snow White and the Seven Guardians of the Forest:

The [script] had been renamed as Snow White and the word dwarf had been removed from the scripts with the characters referred to as "gnomes" or "guardians of the forest."

The Restricted Growth Association welcomed the ban saying the term dwarf was offensive

Dwarves, dwarves, dwarves!

There now; I've said it not once, not twice, but three times! I must be a truly evil person.

"Guardians of the forest." Um... aren't they miners?

Sigh. They are a fictional race called Dwarves not growth challenged people. That is fictional as in fantasy or not real. Dwarves have always been one of my favorite groups in fantasy writing. They are tough, skilled and worthy of respect.

People of dwarf stature in the real world are like anyone else. Sometimes they are respected sometimes they are not. It usually depends on the way you conduct yourself. If you act like a confident adult your physical size will rarely matter.

I'm not sure why anyone would find Dwarf offensive anyway. It's not derogatory it's descriptive. If you don't like what you are I can't help you. I am probably referred to as average size. Should I take offense if someone calls me average? (“*Cry* I don’t like being called average *cry*”) It all comes down to maturity. If you have a tendency to take things as silly as this offensively then you need to work on your maturity and try to loose some insecurity.

That’s just my opinion on the matter.
