Some dumb ass came up with that idea last year here in Oregon too.
The west side of the state has the majority of the population, higher density of people, so those people would be paying less, since they have a less distance to travel for their daily activities and they utilize the transit system.
Many cities east of Cascade Mountain Range do not have, nor can they fund a transit system. The distances to and from work, and any other necessities for traveling in the eastern portion of the state are far greater than that of the I-5 corridor communities.
So once again the east side of the state would be picking up the tab for some infrastructure repairs for the Portland area! And I am sick and tired of support those hippies!

This idea also throws out the window any incentive for a fuel efficent car. Your Ford Focus is now charged the same as a Ford Expedition
