Deep Twit
Mark Felt, a former assistant director for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, is publicly claiming that he was "Deep Throat," the notorious informant in the Watergate scandal. Be that as it may, (I couldn't care less whether he actually is or not), I find this little domestic scene from the article to be highly distasteful, as well as unfortunately typical of the vapid mindset among an increasing minority of the American public:
Ah, yes; "for the family." The rallying cry of the truly greedy and power-hungry: "Do it for the children, won't you?"
Where have we heard that before?
Here's an idea, you petty, grasping harpy: work to pay your own bills, instead of venally trading on the past actions of the dead and dying like some modern-day, avaristic ghoul. You disgust me.
"I don't think (being Deep Throat) was anything to be proud of," Felt indicated to his son, Mark Jr., at one point, according to the article. "You (should) not leak information to anyone."
But [Felt's daughter] Joan is quoted as saying that "Bob Woodward's gonna get all the glory for this, but we could make at least enough money to pay some bills, like the debt I've run up for the kids' education. Let's do it for the family."
