Kitten Cannon

You cheated! Since your primary MOS was a 0341, which is an unfair advantage to us straight line shooters! And it would appear that you have maintained those skills quite nicely. Best I could muster up was 638'

As of yesterday, my high score is now 1488. Banduar, however, got a 1492. Neither of which got us on the leader board; many of those scores are in the 3000's.

I think someone is getting bouncier kittens that I am. Must be a bad lot. Tag it and send it back to the magazine for destruction.

Something that helps, by the way, is to use a very low trajectory. This imparts the maximum possible horizontal starting velocity, and since both the horizontal and vertical distances decrease per (unassisted) bounce as an inverse square factor, this will invariably give you the longest average distances. There are three items on the field that impart a large change in vertical momentum: two types of explosives and the trampoline. While all three also impart a horizontal component in the vector, it is much smaller than the vertical component. Ergo, shoot horizontally and hope for a couple of rapid explosives hits to build altitude and speed.

I managed some 1200's, a 1400, a 1683, and a 2180. It's fun to watch the cat bounce, get eaten, and get impaled, but in the end since the traps all change every time it is not a matter of skill but of luck. A no power low line or even full angle shot that hits about 3 bombs in a row and continues with some other lucky hits will get you in some higher scores.

I changed the link to a functional one. The first one had gone tits-up.

You're right Vizigoth; it is mostly luck, although there does appear to be a certain pattern to the way the first couple of items appear, as I can get consistent double-explosive bounces with a certain power and angle in a rotating sequence of about five or six tries.

Besides, I have to make myself believe there's some skill involved, otherwise I may as well sit on the back porch, draw cards out of a deck, and add up the points. =o)
