Quota Quandary

Affirmative Action and racist hiring practices finally take a well-deserved bitch-slappin'. As a side note, the mayor of Milwaukee is an idiot. Witness:

[Former Chief] Jones made 41 promotions to captain, 21 of whom were white men, during his seven years as chief. In that time, the pool of lieutenants - from whom almost all captains come - was consistently more than 80% white men.

[Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett] said the verdict could be read to have a racially imbalanced implication, since it noted that all 17 white plaintiffs had been discriminated against at some point.

"If that means that 38 out of 40 promotions should have been white men, that is something I disagree with," Barrett said.

I'm glad we agree that quotas are stupid, but ah... 38 of 40 is 95%, you mathematically illiterate squirrel. Moreover, this is nothing but a long-deserved turn-about of Affirmative Action, which is the most blatantly racist program in the history of government hiring practices. It is almost solely responsible for the hordes of dim-witted, mono-browed, mouth-breathing oxygen thieves we all have to deal with in city and county governments. If you've been to a tax office, permit division, or local courthouse recently, then you know exactly what I'm talking about.

You reap what you sow. In this case, favor-currying politicos such as this Mr. Barrett have spent forty years sowing a particularly vile, bitter, and unappealing crop in order to gain political position through shameless racial manipulation, and I've no pity for those who now find themselves having to eat the harvest.
