Move Along, Citizen!

In their continuing quest for a police state, the British government have installed surveillance cameras that shout at you and flash bright lights, in addition to making an audio-visual record of your activities.

Not worried yet? Read this:

"The cameras are generally in areas where people have no reason to loiter unless they're engaged in something dubious..."

If the casual disregard for personal freedom inherent in that statement didn't make your blood run cold, then I'm afraid you don't fully grasp the scope of the problem. If they can put them in dark alleys, they can put them behind every building.

Yes, it's "only" in the UK... for now. But how long do you think it will be before United States police start wanting the same toys? We'd better wake up, or we'll soon be looking around dazedly, asking where we're going--and why we're in this handbasket.
