Tech Alert: Toshiba SuperCharge

Toshiba has created a new type of lithium-ion battery (your cell phone, camera and PDA use them; so do hybrid cars) that has better energy density, a slimmer form factor, and a longer life cycle than current lithium-ion batteries. But here's the really cool part: it charges nearly as fast as a capacitor. 80% of charge is taken in one minute!

This, my friends, is the breakthrough in battery technology that we've been seeking for decades. Suddenly things like true electric cars become not only possible, but practical. The long-term ramifications of this creation are mind-boggling.

I think I may faint.
