Some idiot State Representative in Hawaii (I'm pretty sure there are at least two separate orders of redundancy there) wants to fire all the fat teachers. Her reasoning, if you can dignify it with such a word, is as follows--and I quote verbatim:

"You cannot keep a kid to a certain standard that you yourself is not willing to keep," Cabanilla said.

I believe it was Mark Twain who said "it is better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."

I would find the situation more amusing if it weren't for the fact that this woman, along with legions of elected and appointed offcials just like her, have made a mockery of our Republic. The people who elected her should be deeply ashamed, but they are no doubt just as illiterate and clueless. This woman just had a greater thirst for power, and was thus crowned king among the morons. Observe:

"As a matter of fact, we should start at home, but since the Legislature has no way to regulate homes, we can at least start in school," Cabanilla said. "And teachers have a lot of impact to these students."

Note the tone of regret implicit in that comment. If (or rather "when") she can find a way, she would be delighted to come into your house and tell you what to eat. No doubt she would also like to tell you what to watch on the television, what to drink, what to wear, and with whom you can associate. This person--and I use the term loosely--is the very epitome of a self-serving socialist and a dolist. She is exactly the sort of foul creature who led England to the sorry state in which they currently find themselves.

If American politics continue down their current path, people exactly like this woman--oppressive, power-mad, and vastly ignorant--will be running the country in less than 30 years. Won't that be just grand?
