Martian Sea

Planetary scientists believe they have discovered a frozen sea on Mars, very near to the planet's equator. It appears to be about 800km X 900km in area, and about 45m deep, located just beneath the surface. The technical paper can be found here. Look at pages 5 and 6 for the relevant information. It has been "embargoed" by Nature Magazine, meaning that they bought the information and all release rights to it--something that I believe should be illegal with information obtained by taxpayer-funded equipment and employees.
