Cameloid is Such A Silly Place

Alpaca. Cool word. Goofy-looking animal. Apparently they're in high demand, as Andean ranchers of the beasties have taken to tagging them electronically. Something I'm confused about, though:

The program, costing $5,000, is sponsored by Peru's National Council of South American Cameloids


Err... So, they're tagging fournoid deformations? Why? More importantly, how?
