RIP Nicky Hayden

MotoGP champ and Team Honda rider Nicky Hayden has been killed in Italy... while riding a bicycle.

I've said it a thousand times and I'll say it again: bicycles are children's toys and have no business whatsoever sharing space with two-ton automobiles traveling at three times their maximum speed. Riding a motorcycle in traffic is dangerous enough; a bicycle is suicidal. If you put yourself in that position, you have to expect that sooner or later you're going to get pancaked by a cager. So don't do it. Hayden should have known better.

One of my favorite pictures of Nicky Hayden winning the 2006 World Championship. http://i.imgur.com/aTCm3HZ.jpg. I didn't follow MotoGP back then, but I have been a fan ever since they started racing in Austin. RIP The Kentucky Kid :(
