This is what happens when you run industrial equipment long past its safe operational life expectancy. The environmentalists and other naive dupes on the Left have blocked construction of new refineries for decades. This is not a failure of capitalism or safety systems, it's a failure -- another failure -- of liberalism and the direct result of legislating through emotion instead of logic.

You can be certain, however, that the micro-lobed children in the Democrat party and their fellow travelers in the cult of ecology will continue to point their bony fingers at Big Oil and scream mindless invective. They have to; manufactured victimhood and false accusations are the only things in life at which they are accomplished. Mere facts are simply annoying obstructions to be trampled underfoot in their headlong rush to totalitarianism -- which, when we eventually get there, you can be sure they will also blame on everyone but themselves. Such is the nature of spoiled children.

Observing the last two decades of American history, I'm starting to think that global thermonuclear war is America's best chance for long term survival.
