Walk Out

Both ways:

A politician in Lake Worth, Florida, is breaking her silence one week after she joined others in abruptly and silently walking out of a city meeting before an atheist delivered his secular invocation. Mayor Pam Triolo was joined by three commissioners in exiting the room in protest last Tuesday after Preston Smith stood up and took the podium to deliver his brief remarks.

“I didn’t leave because Mr. Smith is an atheist, I left because of his alleged tweet,” she said... “Free speech works both ways. You can say what you want and I can choose to leave.”

Agreed. But as I've said here many times, words can't hurt you unless you allow them to do so. Let's examine what Mr Smith said:

“Father Earth, we gather today in your redeeming and glorious presence,” he said. “To invoke your eternal guidance in the universe, the original creator of all things.”

Who is "Father Earth"? That sounds suspiciously deity-like to me. And "creator of all things"? That is most definitely referencing a deity of some sort. I thought you were an atheist...

He went on to mention numerous deities and to conclude by praising atheist and secular values.

With the deities again! I thought you were an atheist...

Smith later said that he believes that the decision to leave before his address was an act of discrimination against his beliefs

Beliefs? WHAT BELIEFS?! I thought you were an atheist...

Speaking as an atheist, I wouldn't have walked out on Mr Smith. Why would I do that? That would have deprived me of an opportunity to laugh out loud and publicly ridicule an obvious moron, which is one of my favorite forms of entertainment. Because you, Mr Smith, are what we atheists (and pretty well everybody else on Earth) refer to as A Fucking Idiot.

An Atheist and a Vegan walk into a bar, I only know because they told everybody in the first two minutes.

Don't even get me started on Vegan's! What a bunch of pompus jackholes. My wife and I were in Wilmington NC to get some lunch. As we were walking from the car to the local restaurant, bar area, Food Lion has a trailer set up to show off their new beef selections. They are cooking steak and handing out samples. Well, I'm not walking past that. While trying a piece, this couple walks by and the person cooking says to them" would you like to try some of our new steak?" This guy actually says,"Is that meat?, We're vegetarians" I actually paused and looked at him. I now know what a walking douche-bag looks like.

Ah, Steve... You missed a golden opportunity there, my man! You should've responded: "My wife and I are cannibals. Better start running."
