Angel in Blue

The commander of the Blue Angels was reprimanded for "lewd behavior":

Capt. Gregory McWherter was found guilty of violating two articles under the military's code of justice during nonjudicial proceedings convened Monday in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The articles were failure to obey an order or regulation and conduct unbecoming of an officer by fostering a hostile command climate and failing to stop "obvious and repeated instances of sexual harassment, condoning widespread lewd practices within the squadron and engaging in inappropriate and unprofessional discussions with his junior officers," the Navy said in a statement.

He will be given a letter of reprimand that will go in McWherter's permanent file and is widely seen as a career-ender in the service. McWherter told Navy officials he did not wish to speak to the media, said Cmdr. Kevin Stephens, a spokesman at Naval Air Forces.

The Navy said his command had explicit pornography, including photos of naked women, in aircraft cockpits; the painting of male genitalia on the roof of the center point trailer at the Blue Angels' winter training facilities in El Centro; and "sexually charged, raunchy, and homophobic humor" on maps and itineraries.

Sorry, but that's all standard practice and old news in combat arms units. It's a daily occurrence. "Sexually charged, raunchy, homophobic humor" is part of the vocabulary. It's impossible for most Marines, soldiers and sailors (and yes, flyboys) to form a complete sentence without one or more of those items included. I once knew a gunny who quite literally couldn't speak a sentence without the word "fuck" or one of its many derivatives; he stumbled all over his tongue when he tried.

As for nude photos... hell, we used to hang up naked photos of our girlfriends in the barracks as a form of competition. The officers and senior NCOs were the self-appointed judges.

No, what really happened here is that he's pissed off some career ladder-climber above him who is taking revenge on him. The charges are just the excuse, not the reason.

But while I'm in the blast radius, I'd like to take the opportunity to once again warn you soft-handed liberals about your bullheaded intent to feminize the military: you are making a big, BIG mistake. If you succeed, there will be nobody standing between you and the hordes of chaos. Who'd you rather have to deal with: an American who makes crude jokes and lets you live as you please, or a barbarian who will rape your women, shoot the gays and enslave your kids? Think about it very carefully, because there is no reset button for reality. You could ask the late-empire Romans about their choice, but they were all slaughtered by barbarians who raped their women, stabbed the gays and enslaved their children.
