Thursday Tunes
Shallow Grave by The Birthday Massacre. Outside of the great name, this band has a distinctly '80s pop feel to it. Opines the submitter: "When I listen, I think SOUNDTRACK...82' - 86'...low budget sci-fi or horror film, like John Carpenter, Nightmare from Elm Street, Hardware, Circuitry Man."
Indeed. Kind of a dark, 80s neo-punk feel to the band -- look at a photo of them and you'll know why. At any rate, I like it. But then I'm a bit of a sucker for quirky bands with female lead vocalists.

They definitely don't seem to fit neatly into any single category, there's a new sub-genre called Darkwave that fits somewhat...but the 80's flavor makes them stand out from the rest.
Doesn't really matter, I like it whatever it is. Still in reasonably high rotation on my iPod playlist right now too. The rhythms, the 80's-ish synth, and Chibi's voice all blend together perfectly for me. Definitely going to see them live someday.
