Friday Timewaster

Path of Exile, a F2P Diablo-esqe ARPG that's been in development for several years now, is finally live. Well, actually they're calling it "open beta," but there'll be no character wipes and the micro-trans store is open for business... that's "live" in my book. I'm told the store items are purely cosmetic in nature. I haven't ventured there yet, so I can't say for sure.

In any event, I've given it a spin and it's quite well done, especially for an indie start-up. The barter system is particularly unique; no more collecting eleventy-bajillion gold pieces to buy a new hat. No online auction house, either...and there was much rejoicing.

ADDENDUM: I forgot to mention how massive the passive skill tree is. No, really. I don't mean it's big, or very large, or even huge. It's MASSIVE. As in "stare it for hours and still not fully comprehend its sheer ginormity" massive. Seriously. Go take a gander and feel the awe.
