Improved molecularscopy
If you haven't drowned the relevant brain cells, you may remember that a little over three years ago we posted a link about some researchers at Berkeley National Lab who had invented a method for imaging single molecules. The pictures were fascinating, but somewhat primitive.
They've improved their technique:
The team is now working for IBM in Zurich, and what you see above is an image of a fullerene. See those green lines? Those are the actual physical manifestations of atomic bonds. That's so cool it's making my geek gene quiver with excitement. Piclick for more.
