I see a tower designed by a moron that didn't take maintenance into account. Granted, bad engineering seems to be common place these days.

No engineer ever takes maintenance into account. Have you ever watched dirty jobs when he is helping them maintain some bridge or other large structure? The access holes were made for Oompa Loompas and do not take into account the 60 lbs of safety gear OSHA makes em wear.
On another note...and you wonder why blue collar workers drink and smoke dope at work....well wonder no more. I would need a stiff drink after coming down from that thing.
