Iron Sky
An upcoming indie movie about steampunk Nazis on the moon.
Hey, as plots go that's not any worse than what mainstream Hollywood has come up with lately. It may even NotSuck™ -- which would put it ahead of everything that's hit the silver screen over the last decade. Even if this particular production flops, I'm glad to see the indie film movement continuing to gain speed. Hollywood has made itself irrelevant; I'd like to see it become extinct.
And while I'm on the subject of quirky shows that don't suck, I highly recommend Torchwood. It's got some sort of tie-in to the new Doctor Who series, (which I frankly couldn't care less about), but its real charm lies in the tongue-in-cheek plot lines and the irreverent manner in which it chunks the episodic TV formula into the toilet and pulls the chain. You can stream the first three seasons in HD on Netflix. (Which service is worth every penny of the nine bucks a month, by the way. You can stream it via WiFi to a PS3, Xbox or Wii and thus onto your television. /end Netflix advertisement).
