"The federal health care legislation passed tonight violates the United States Constitution and infringes upon Texans' individual liberties. To protect all Texans' constitutional rights, preserve the constitutional framework intended by our nation's founders, and defend our state from further infringement by the federal government, the State of Texas and other states will legally challenge the federal health care legislation." -- Greg Abbott, Attorney General of Texas, 21 MAR 2010
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. - The Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America
Bill McCollum (Florida) will join Attorneys General from South Carolina, Nebraska, Texas, Utah, Pennsylvania, Washington, North Dakota and South Dakota to file a lawsuit against the federal government.
Never in the history of this country has it been MANDATORY that you purchase a privately owned product as a citizen of these United States. This bill has changed that. They have just criminalized free will. On this one point, this is unconstitutional at least and unconscionable at the worst. If this thing makes it through the legal system and is still intact then I will have to deem the whole system unsalvageable. We will no longer even be a semblance of the nation we once strived to be. I wonder if this is how the Confederate states felt just before Ft. Sumter? On another note, my census came today and it asks for race and I listed my son as a Texas-American. Since Texas was once a country and he was born there I believe it qualifies him to list his nationality as such. Just as legitimate as all the other nationalities listed for you to chose from. So If you are from Texas, list yourself as a Texas-American and be a minority. Get preferential treatment from the feds.
