Fallen Earth

If you're like me in harboring a fetish for post-apocalypse themed games, I recommend you give Fallen Earth a spin. It's like Gamma World come to life.

The game world is beautifully realized and huge, and you pretty much have to scavenge the remains of the old world constantly in order to survive. The combat system is fairly unique among MMOs in that it's FPS-based, both for ranged and melee combat. The learning curve is steep, because they assume you aren't an idiot, but it's also a very deep and complex game. I recommend you read the backstory and gameplay FAQ on the website while you're waiting for the download, as it'll help you assimilate more quickly. Oh, and if you love crafting this is your MMO; the vast majority of items in the game are player crafted.

Frankly, it's a blast just to wander around and look at the wonderful job they did creating the game world. There is a 10-day free trial, no credit card required, so you've nothing to lose but a bit of bandwidth.

My primary character is Terrible Tommy if you decide to give it a try and want to contact me in-game.

Tommy is an independent contractor, hippie-boy. Don't get on his bad side. =oP
