The Santa Barbera newspaper got slapped for trying to prevent the newspaper reporters from unionizing.

Now, I'm all for protection of employees from a tyranical boss or a supervisor who just doesn't like you, and I think Unions were a good thing in their day. This however isn't about workers rights; its about liberal reporters seeing whats coming and trying to protect their cushy job. Newspaper circulation is down almost 20% across the country and advertising is down 30%. I , myself, used to love sitting in the morning reading the paper, not liking the way some articles were written, but I had no choice. Now I can sit in front of this $2000.00 Spider solitaire game and get my news and entertainment from thousands of outlets.
The Newspaper is finally realizing it is no longer the only game in town and needs to trim the fat. Reporters are realizing they might have to go get a real job and stop propogandizing to the masses. Get ready, the real world is about to bitch slap you across the face.
The National Labor Relations Board had alleged in a 15-count unfair labor practices complaint that the paper fired the eight workers, who had no history of disciplinary action, only after they began to fight for union representation.

McCaw and other newspaper managers testified during hearings that concerns about biased reporting led to the dismissal of Burns and another employee who was let go in January 2007.

The judge also ruled that the paper had spied on reporters' union activities, forced them to remove anti-McCaw buttons and wrongly fired a fellow supervisor.
