Jump!

A death wish to be executed in grand style:

A parachutist hopes to become the first man to break the sound barrier by jumping from a balloon 25 miles high.

Michel Fournier, 63, a retired Army officer, will plunge at up to 1,000mph, breaking the record for the highest balloon jump into the bargain. He will defy temperatures of -100C, solar radiation and oxygen deprivation...

Hold up just a sec, Michel; Uncle Chuck is at the popcorn stand. He'll want to watch this one.

This guy is doing it for personal glory and is a complete tool.
The real hero of this is Joseph Kittenger of Florida. Back in 1955 he was recruited for project Man High which was a precursor to manned space flight. He was to test if a man could survive and escape from high altitudes and near space. He flew and parachuted from high altitude balloons numerous times and led to sending men into space.
