Gotta Have One

Rumor has it that this is the finalized production prototype body for the '09 Dodge Challenger, dressed up in a psuedo-Pro Street configuration. I am unsure where the car was being displayed when the photographs were taken. I simply found them on the web in company with the sporadic mental drivel one finds in typical internet forums.

If it is indeed a production prototype body, there have been several changes from the concept car which has been making the rounds for the last two years, though they are very subtle. Perhaps most noticeable is the more conventional fitting and appearance of the eyebrow-type taillight. More substantial trim has appeared on the exterior of the false B-pillar, and a new "lower lip" pattern air dam has been added to the front. Both of the latter might feasibly be part of the "Pro Street" costume, admittedly.

In any event, it certainly has that "Mad Max" sort of vibe to it. I'd love to see an actual production car in black. As a rule, sports cars and muscle cars are not as attractive in black as they are in brighter colors which tend to show off their lines. This one, however, looks damned mean in just plain old matte black -- even if you imagine it without the racing bits.
