Borderline Neglect

Fundy has linked to an article about four young Iraqi males whom the Mexicans caught trying to sneak across the border into the United States.

I don't know what Bush said about the border issue during the SotU last night, and frankly I don't care. If he even addressed it, I'm sure it was solely to further obfuscate and muddle the issue.

The gaping security hole that the Mexican border problem has become is not going to simply go away of its own accord, and we don't appear to have anyone in Washington who has the moral spine to deal with it realistically. I suspect the only thing that will get their attention is another major terrorist attack, where the perpetrators come through Mexico. That, of course, means more dead American civilians.

I've about decided that next time at the polling booth, I will simply vote against all incumbents. In fact, I think we need a single lever for it; perhaps that would make the career politicians and lobbyist fat cats stand up and take notice. Nothing else seems to have worked.

Hell, the Bush and Clinton families are like old chums nowadays. Read between the lines, and you'll see a callous elitism that is not restricted to party camps. It's an ingrained attitude of superiority over the "white bread and margarine class" that has become endemic in Washington, D.C. They have become too confident in power, and that's a very dangerous political situation in a republic.

Perhaps it's time for another Boston Tea Party. Because it's either that, or sit back and wait for the man on the white horse to ride into the Oval Office.
