Last I checked, both potatoes and corn were vegtables and both make a fine and popular "crunchy" snack. You fry and salt the first, you heat and salt the second.
Of course,once in college I told my dad I was eating my vegtables, clearly referring to the celery garnishing my bloody marys.
Ease up Jarhead. They need all the practice they can get.
