Litigious Parenting

Once again, personal responsibility takes a nap:

Advocacy groups and parents are suing the Nickelodeon TV network and cereal maker Kellogg in an effort to stop junk-food marketing to kids.

Sherri Carlson said she tries to get her three kids to eat healthy foods.

"But then they turn on Nickelodeon and see all those enticing junk-food ads," Carlson said. "Adding insult to injury, we enter the grocery store and see our beloved Nick characters plastered on all those junky snacks and cereals."

Of course, her kids' obesity and bad eating habits have absolutely nothing to do with the probability that Mz. Carlson has all the parenting skills of a sea turtle.

Carlson and another plaintiff...spoke at a news conference organized by the Center for Science in the Public Interest and the Boston-based Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood.

Ahh... Now things are becoming clear. The Center for Science in the Public Interest is possibly the most disingenuously-named organization in the world, (with "United Nations" running a very close second in that category). The only interest of CSPI is the promotion of a violently anti-capitalist agenda. Just look at the name of the campaign... Do not be fooled; these people are cut from the same cloth as the PETA nutcases.

As for a solution: If junior wants too much junk food, don't give it to him. If he whines about it, smack him on the ass until he stops.

Boy, that was difficult, huh?

Parenting skills of a sea turtle, no doubt. I must agree with common sense and logic. Some parents forget they are the parent/director of their childrens life. Not their best friend and certainly not a pushover.
