Lenin Would Be Delighted
If you're a Vonage customer or user of other (official) VoIP telephone services, you'll be interested to know that the federal government is making every effort to keep their grubby little paws in your pocket. In an impending bi-partisan boondoggle, a group of thieves federal legislators are proposing that the Universal Service Fee (the 10 percent tithe to communism on your current landline and cellular phones bills) be expanded to include VoIP services--and eventually all of broadband, including data transmission.
Here's what Rep. Ron Peterson (R-Penn), one of the architects of this bad example from an Eco101 textbook, had to say for himself:
Oh, Bravo! Mr. Peterson. That was spoken like a true Marxist. Essentially, you're saying that since the market is expanding so rapidly, you should tax it and see if you can kill the momentum. Good show!
