Sandra Day O'Connor Retiring
I can confidently place this event in the "political earthshaker" category. Mind you, it wasn't entirely unexpected, but that doesn't mean it hasn't stirred up a nest of mean, nasty hornets up on Capitol Hill this morning. That screaming you hear is the Congressional Democrats going into Full Bore Panic Mode(tm).
I won't editorialize on O'Connor, other than to say that it's typical of her personality to roll out the melodrama by announcing her retirement right before the July 4th holiday weekend. If you have any interest in the topic of SCOTUS justices, you already know about her--and her spotted record. If you don't have any interest... well, you've already stopped reading, haven't you?

He should nominate Kerry to miss with head. Kerry will of course have to oppose his own nomination, it’d be fun.
If you really want to watch someone blow a gasket renominate Robert H. Bork.
