Running Away

More cracks are showing in The Land of Nork:

A former North Korea diplomat who fled Pyongyang's embassy in London wants South Koreans to stop calling his country of origin a communist state. "North Korea is not a communist society but a slave state presided over by a system of hereditary rule," Thae Yong-ho told South Korean parliamentarians...

Different words, same result. This defector is no patriot, he's a fat cat bureaucrat one step ahead of the headsman's axe. He's also an apologist for communism, which I suppose is to be expected, but no less irritating for it.

"North Koreans, under endless sanctions, are feeling mentally agitated while asking 'When will we, too, live in prosperity'?"

When they cast off communism and string Kim Jong Chubby up by his worthless sack -- and not one minute before that. Freedom isn't free.

Thae also said there are North Korean diplomats in Europe who are seriously considering defecting like himself. Some are hesitating because they are not sure whether they, as members of the North Korean elite, could enjoy the same social status in the South as they do as members of Pyongyang's government

Which just proves my preceding statement. These defectors are running only because their bosses are closing in on them, not because they have any desire for a free North Korea. Still, it's a start; the ship is leaking. We should smuggle guns and ammo into Norkville and drop agitprop leaflets 24/7 until they pull a Ceausescu on Fat Boy. There are many ways to remove a dictator from power, but a gruesome death at the hands of the people he is oppressing is by far the preferred method. It has a better chance of sticking that way.
