Petty Dragon
100 Chinese ships sailed near disputed Japan islands in 2016
Cliffs Notes: The Japs bought the islands a few years back and nationalized them. Previously the Chinks had shown no interest, but now that the Japs own them they're getting all passive-aggressive about it.
It's pretty obvious the Chinese think they're ready to push the tokens of empire around on the big board. That's why they made that pithy comment about foreign policy being "not a child's game" to Trump last week; they got used to eight years of unhindered expansion as Obama and the Kommie Kiddies let them get away with murder. Now they're up against the possibility of a resurgent conservative government in Washington, led by a man they can't bully and who isn't afraid to wield the biggest stick granted to him by the Constitution: tariffs.
Trump has already fired a warning shot across the Chinks' bow about their military build up in the South China Sea. It's causing them to grind their teeth in frustration, and stuff like this is more a psychological outlet than a real threat to Japan's national security. It's nothing a couple of well-played carrier task forces can't fix.
