Islam is Violence
Vizigoth sends along this article about the threat of Islam. It's interesting and well-written, but it doesn't go nearly far enough. It dances around the core issue: namely, that Islam is a societal disease which has proven fatal to every culture wherein Muslims become the majority. The article falls into the old trap of trying to separate the "good" Muslims from "bad" Muslims, which is impossible:
Apologist poppycock. The "core creed" of Islam is jihad. Islam allows only three options for non-Muslims: conversion, enslavement or death. The reason these so-called "peaceful Muslims" say nothing about their hair-on-fire brethren in ISIS and Al Qaeda is that, at the core of their beliefs, THEY AGREE WITH THEM. There are not three Islams, only one.
There can be no compromise with Islam, no ideological reform. In Islam, there is no concept for coexistence, no admonition towards tolerance. The Muslims want everyone to be a Muslim; we who are by choice not Muslim, do not want that. But our other options are enslavement or death. Ergo, we are in a war for survival. Mohammed hated Jews, and by extension Christians, with a blind passion. He substituted jihad -- holy war -- for tolerance. The Bible tells us that when in Rome, we should do as the Romans do. Islam tells its followers to burn Rome to the ground and convert the Romans to Muslims. Many Asian nations realized this truth decades ago and outlawed Islam. That's because they have seen it for what it is: not a religion, but an existential threat.
The sooner everyone in the West realizes that Islam is the alpha and omega of so many problems in the modern world, the sooner we can start addressing it in a realistic manner. Continued efforts to divide Muslims up like so many differently-colored fish in order to cater to pampered misconceptions about the First Amendment will get us nothing but more jihad and death.

I didn't really focus on the articles discussion of where different Muslims fell in the writers grouping of how Muslims apply their sacred texts. I was more focused on his point that their sacred texts do support the violence that some of them commit and most of them don't seem to be interested in stopping. All to often you read of some Muslim sympathizer telling you how their texts don't support the violent acts, which is incorrect.
