Sinking Into Mediocrity
Mediocrity would actually be a step up for American Millennials:
Spain. Fucking SPAIN. That's only a half-step away from the Third World.
Congratulations, lefties! You've destroyed both our secondary schools and our college system. They may not be able to think their way out of a cardboard box, but by God they're all about socialism!
On the bright side, my career is very secure; there's no credible threat from below me.
The test is called the PIAAC test. It was developed by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, better known as the OECD. The test was meant to assess adult skill levels. It was administered worldwide to people ages 16 to 65. The results came out two years ago and barely caused a ripple. But recently ETS went back and delved into the data to look at how millennials did as a group. After all, they’re the future – and, in America, they're poised to claim the title of largest generation from the baby boomers.
U.S. millennials, defined as people 16 to 34 years old, were supposed to be different. They’re digital natives. They get it. High achievement is part of their makeup. But the ETS study found signs of trouble, with its authors warning that the nation was at a crossroads: “We can decide to accept the current levels of mediocrity and inequality or we can decide to address the skills challenge head on.”
The challenge is that, in literacy, U.S. millennials scored higher than only three countries.
In math, Americans ranked last.
In technical problem-saving, they were second from the bottom.
“Abysmal,” noted ETS researcher Madeline Goodman. “There was just no place where we performed well.”
But surely America’s brightest were on top?
Nope. U.S. millennials with master’s degrees and doctorates did better than their peers in only three countries, Ireland, Poland and Spain. Those in Finland, Sweden and Japan seemed to be on a different planet.
Top-scoring U.S. millennials – the 90th percentile on the PIAAC test – were at the bottom internationally, ranking higher only than their peers in Spain.
Spain. Fucking SPAIN. That's only a half-step away from the Third World.

This all started at the Rec league athletic level. Everyone gets a trophy and we don't keep score, because we wouldn't want little Susie or Johnny to feel bad about themselves. It ends with Diversity hiring. Don't hire the best person for the job, or the most qualified, make sure you hire the minority so we "reflect" society.
Some may say that the last statement is racist and mysogynistic, but what is more racist? Calling someone a bad name, or giving them over a 100 point bonus on the SAT because of their skin color? Any form of racism is wrong, but you do a person a disservice by putting someone in a position they do not have the skill set to do. Is it their fault? No. It goes back to forcing children into failing schools and kowtowing to Big education instead of putting the children first.
New York schools spend $3,000 more than the average school district nationwide, yet have abysmal standard test scores. Why is that? That stat shows that it isn't a lack of money, so it comes down to accountability. Put people in jobs that they cannot be fired from, have politicians beholden to their Union, and fight tooth and nail school choice, and you end up with the perfect storm of mediocrity. Why do private schools and homeschoolers do better on standard tests, because the people teaching them have a vested interest in making sure they succeed.
I think the most insidious and dangerous word in the English language isn't a curse word, but Fairness.
