Well, I'm sure this will suck:
A franchise. Oh goody fucking gumdrops. They're not content with raping cult classics just once; they want to do it over and over and over again. Hollywood executives have become a seething mass of unimaginative greed drones. They're like Mr Burns, minus the funny parts.
Fox has emerged from competitive bidding and closed a deal to remake the 1981 John Carpenter-directed cult classic Escape From New York. Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman’s The Picture Company will produce.
Carpenter will be an executive producer and will exert creative influence over the project. Fox’s Mike Ireland brought it in and will steer. The hope is to reinvent the property with an eye toward launching a new franchise.

Its like being held captive in some Orwellian Dystopian prison where you are duct taped to a chair with your eyes held open like in Clockwork Orange as one by one, your happy treasured memories of youth are brought in and forcibly sodomized in front of you by fat hollywood executives.
Perhaps I'm being a little dramatic. :)
