Panties in a (Brady) Bunch

Fourteen little-known facts about the Brady Bunch. Not because the article is particularly interesting, but because of this:

Do you remember that Lucy and Ricky on I Love Lucy slept in twin beds? The clean-cut Brady Bunch showed Carol and Mike lying together in the same bed--a scandalous arrangement at the time. The network did, however, require that Schwartz remove the toilet from the couple’s bathroom.

Okay, I grew up in the 60s and 70s, and I'm wondering who in the fuck these network people thought they were catering to? My grandparents slept in the same bed, my parents slept in the same bed, all of my friends' parents slept in the same bed... AND they all had toilets in their bathrooms. A bathroom ain't much use without one, now is it?

Seriously, were there people in the 60s and 70s who would get up in arms about married couples in the same bed and who became visibly upset at the sight of a toilet? If there were, I'm glad I didn't know any of them.
