Daft Punk gained some notoriety after composing the soundtrack for the 2010 movie "Tron: Legacy." They're a French house mix duo who've been around since the mid '90s, and one of the few to have cross-over hits with mainstream European pop. Below is "One More Time," the most famous example of that success as a hit on the European Billboard charts in 2000. It will probably sound vaguely familiar to you, since toned-down versions of it have been used over the years as incidental music in various movie scenes and commercials.
This piece is a pretty tame example of European house -- meaning that it actually has some melodic and harmonic content. If you're feeling adventurous and want something a little more typical of Daft Punk, click through to their YouTube channel and try out "Around the World." The music is typical trance-dance stuff, while the video has dancing mummies, spacemen, voodoo skeletons and people with heads that are too small... In other words, it's French.
