Friday Timewaster

If Doom were remade as a top-down, real-time roguelike, it would look like... well, like Teleglitch. Because that's exactly what Teleglitch is.

Don't be put off by the crappy screenshots and primitive graphics. The controls, use of momentum, the weapons modeling, and the brilliant use of sound effects combine to make this game a standout among indie efforts. One of the really great innovations is the ability to combine various objects to create new weapons. For example, what would you get if you were to combine a can of monster bait ("cannedmeat") with other things -- say, a box of nails and some explosives? Or build a panzerfaust from some explosives and... some other things. I won't ruin the fun for you. Give the demo a spin.
