Romney Sweeps the Judges
It's pretty much universally agreed at this point (even by the liberal media, though they grind their teeth about it) that Romney mopped the floor with Dumbo last night. In doing so, he caused a lot of people, me included, to breathe a little sigh of relief. I was getting really worried we had another Dole situation on our hands.
Turns out that the reason we haven't heard much out of Romney the last few weeks is that he was very diligently cramming for the big test. It certainly paid off. He effectively deconstructed Obama and his four years of constant failures in front of a national audience. Barry's shield-bearers in the media couldn't help him -- in no small part because they've spent four years singing his praises and inflating his ego beyond healthy bounds. Even Jim Lehrer's constant and very distasteful attempts to help out his boy amounted to nothing. If Ryan can do the same to Biden (and I have little doubt of it) things will start to look pretty bleak in the Dem corner.
Fight's on! Finally.

The best line I've heard so far was a Tweet after the debate saying "This wasn't a debate so much as Mitt Romney just took Obama for a cross-country drive strapped to the roof of his car".
Heh. Nice.
I think the other way Obama's trained seals in the press helped make this a win for Romney is that they have been helping the Dems spread their picture of Romney for months now. A picture of him as an evil Capitalist Robber Baron that hunts poor orphans for sport, puts babies on spikes, has plans to put all blacks on plantations, turn old people into Soylent Green and is both a genius Wall Street manipulator and too incompetent to tie his own shoes at the same time depending on the spin they are selling.
Problem is, the Romney people saw at the debate was none of that...quite the opposite. While Big O looked like he was put out by having to step down from his loft perch and submit to questions from the rabble.
All that said, the deeply Machiavellian part of my brain can't help but wonder if the Dems might actually have planned to take a dive in the first bout in order to make any signs of life in the 2nd or 3rd presidential look like a strong comeback. Hmm...
Indeed. Demonizing your opponent is a dangerous tactic in politics. If taken too far, it can easily backfire, as the Obama campaign just learned.
Having failed on the debate floor, they're now resorting to another dubious tactic: the Big Lie. They came out today (05 OCT) and said that the unemployment rate just magically dropped from 8.2% to 7.8% -- nearly a half-point. Wonders! And how, precisely, did this miracle occur, considering all the data shows a DECLINE in full-time job creation? What's that you say? You're counting part-time jobs sans benefits, now? Oh, how nice for you.
Keep digging, Dems. You're almost down to six feet...
I am sorry, fellas, but despite the fact the most of the contributors here, Fundy included sorry to say, can think for themselves, the General Public will march lock-step to the polls and vote King Barry back into office. We are quite simply out-numbered.
