Disgusting

A sheriff's deputy in Bexar County left two K-9 dogs in a car overnight to die of heat stroke. Like the submitter, I can't imagine a situation which would cause such a lapse of memory -- short of being drunk.

If it's anything like the military, the dog outranks the handler. In the U.S. armed forces, injuring a duty animal (let alone killing it) is the equivalent of striking a superior officer and is a general court-martial offense, punishable by a hefty prison sentence -- or in a combat situation, possibly the death penalty. I'd think at the very least this clown will be stripped of his TPO certification and fired, but jail time should probably be in the cards as well.

I will not post the link to the story about the two puppy mill owners in England who were recently caught burying puppies alive to kill their "excess stock." I can't even write that without slipping into a rage. When I say I like dogs more than I like most people, it's not a clever quip, it's the truth. Dogs are loyal and kind if treated as such, and will sacrifice their own lives to protect their owners. A disturbingly high percentage of the people I've met in my life would happily trample another person for little more reason than material gain or momentary pleasure.

Over the course of 44 years of life, I've learned that you can't measure a being's worth by whether or not they have opposable thumbs -- because many who possess them aren't worth the water they're made of.

Hat-tip to Jimmy V.
