"Young people are 'so friction stupid"

Click to watch the video interview with columnist and author Jonah Goldberg.

My favorite line (and it was tough to choose!):  "The fact that young people think socialism is better than capitalism … that’s something that conservatives have to work hard to beat out of them, either literally or figurative, as far as I’m concerned,"

I agree completely except for his final statements about America not having aristocratic elites. I think it is far more accurate to say that previously the American people were not enthralled by the elites we did have, and there wasn't as many of them nor the technology to allow them to overly control and influence our lives. I believe these early elites were also truly limited by our new and initially effective constitution. This country now has a ruling elite and they have the means and technology to influence virtually everything we do, and they want to stay and grow that position and pass that position on down the generations. Look around, the Fortune 100 "C Suite" group that have ivy league credentials and make hundreds of millions of dollars off of their corporate stocks, which means they take those dollars from shareholders (i.e. the suckers). It's not like they have proven to be long term money makers for their shareholders. Just look back at all the large companies that no longer exist. How many of these brilliant people worked their way up through the ranks as opposed to the ones that utilized daddy's money to get that ivy league education and that first job in executive management. Then take a look at how these geniuses move back and forth between company management positions and government offices or appointed positions. Bernie Madoff sitting as an adviser for the SEC ring any bells? We sure as hell have a ruling elite now, and they know, just as Hitler knew, that the way to expand their power is through the young\stupid.
