Nimoy dropped out of a planned attendance for him and Shatner at DragonCon this year. Shatner carried on without him.
I've had the chance to see and meet both of them personally on 2-3 occasions over the years.
When all is said and done, Nimoy might be the more intellectual and sophisticated of the two and perhaps a better actor, but I have to say that Shatner is the guy you'd much rather hang around with. Nimoy takes himself too seriously, Shatner does not, loves to ham it up and makes fun of his own image.

I agree having met both of them as you have through the years. It did take ole Bill a few years as not to take himself so seriously.
