Hole-in-the-ground
Some dude built a hobbit hole. Did a pretty good job of it, too. But the article that accompanies it...
Gods, what a litany. Why didn't you just write "I'm a dirty stinking clueless communist hippie asswipe"? Less effort.
This is why I follow the Dark Lord; lots of industry and profit, fewer stupid hobbits and faggoty elves whining about trees and birds and other useless crap.
Built with maximum regard for the environment...[these] sort of low-cost, natural buildings have a place not only in their own sustainability but also in their potential to provide affordable housing which allows people access to land and the opportunity to lead simple, sustainable lives...
Designed to be fully sustainable, the home is heated by a wood burner while solar panels on the roof provide power. It also has water supplied by a nearby spring — completing provider-free utilities.
Building from natural materials does away with producer's profits and the cocktail of carcinogenic poisons that fill most modern buildings.

It looks nice, but according to the diagram it's a straw house built on a foundation constructed from pallets. I'm no expert, but how could this pass building codes?
