Skynet Plays Civ

Artificial intelligence researchers at MIT wrote a basic AI routine, gave it a copy of the classic computer strategy game Civilization, and watched to see if it would learn to play the game on its own. It did, but it kinda sucked with a 46% win ratio. Then they gave it the standard game manual to read and the win ratio jumped to 76%.

Perhaps experimenting with artificial intelligence by letting it play games where the object is to take over the world is... inadvisable?
