Drop the scissors, Achmed!

The Hamas government in Gaza has begun enforcing a law introduced last year banning men from cutting women's hair.

Until now, the law had not been enforced, but this week at least one male hairdresser in Gaza was arrested.

Male hairdressers for women are regarded by many Muslims as against Islamic tradition.

The move is seen as an attempt to bolster Hamas's Islamic credentials against critics who say it has become too moderate.

The apologists for Islam love to tell us that organizations like Hamas are extremist groups and not representative of Islam as a whole, but apparently there are Muslims who consider Hamas too moderate. If that's not bad enough, the Leftists are constantly telling us that Hamas is misrepresented by Israel, that they really want peace but the Israelis are refusing to cooperate.

In a word, bullshit:

The Hamas is a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. Its charter is clearly a Judeophobic document, drawing on medieval Judeophobic Muslim sources. It is not merely anti-Israel. Article 7 of the Hamas charter repeats the medieval Muslim fable about the Jews at the End of Days, which I summarize:

"At Judgement Day, the Muslims will fight the Jews who will hide behind rocks and trees. The rocks and trees will cry out: O Muslim, a Jew is hiding behind me. Come kill him."

Moderate, huh?
